JOHOR BARU - The Sultan of Johor has urged Malaysia to adopt a single-stream education system instead of the present multi-stream system in order to improve the standard of English among Malaysians.

In an exclusive interview with Malaysia's The Star daily published on Monday (Dec 28), Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar noted that the level of English among Malaysians is deteriorating, saying action needed to be taken to address it.

Malaysia's present multi-stream education system comprises national schools, where Malay is the medium of instruction, as well as Chinese and Tamil vernacular schools.

"If you realise, most government officers nowadays are unable to speak or write good English. That is why I am not in favour of the present three types of schools (National, Chinese and Tamil)," he responded when asked to comment on the standard of English among the country's younger generation.

"Nowadays, there are Chinese and Tamil students who do not know how to speak Malay and of course, Malay students who can't speak English," he said.

This was in comparison to the old days, he said, when English schools were regarded as "neutral ground".

He said: "All races attended these schools. During my time, it was a must to know both Malay and English.

"But now, when you teach mathematics, geography and history in Malay in schools, students are at a loss when they have to read books in English in universities. How can you be a scientist when your English is so bad?" he added.

Malaysia switched from English to Malay as the medium of instruction in its national schools from 1968 to 1982 and started the switch at university level in 1983.

In 2003, however, then Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad switched the teaching of mathematics and science back to English, to improve graduates' English and their employability.

But it was found that students' grades in these subjects, particularly those of students in rural areas whose grasp of English was poor, fell after this switch. In 2012, these subjects were again taught in Malay.

The Sultan has previously spoken up on the use of English as a medium of instruction, noting that English could be a unifying language for the country's different races.

In an interview with The Star in June, he said: "The proficiency of English is bad among children, and our children do not mix. The Malays go to national schools where the Chinese feel alienated, while the Indians go to Tamil schools. Where is the unity?"

BERHATI HATI DIUSIA 40 TAHUN

Klip Soal Jawab Agama Ustaz Azhar Idrus @UstazYouTube with Nurshakiela Kieyla and 42 others.
27 February 2014
BERHATI HATI DIUSIA 40TAHUN
Pada ayat yang lain, firman Allah;
“Dibangkitkan Rasulullah s.a.w pada usia 40 tahun” (riwayat al-Bukhari).
J.F. Kennedy 44 tahun. Bill Clinton 46 tahun. Paul Keating 47 tahun. Sementara Tony Blair 44 tahun.
Mengapa umur 40 tahun begitu penting.
Menurut Ibnu Qayyim Al-Jauziyah usia manusia diklasifikasikan menjadi 4 (empat) period, iaitu
1. Kanak-kanak ( sejak lahir hingga akil baligh )
2. Muda atau syabab ( sejak akil baligh hingga 40 tahun )
3. Dewasa ( 40 tahun hingga 60 tahun )
Imam asy-Syafi’i tatkala mencapai usia 40 tahun, beliau berjalan sambil memakai tongkat.
1. Meneguhkan tujuan hidup
2. Meningkatkan daya spiritual
3. Menjadikan uban sebagai peringatan
4. Memperbanyak bersyukur
5. Menjaga makan dan tidur

GRANDMA IN COURT

GRANDMA  IN  COURT..

Lawyers should never ask grandmas a question if they aren’t prepared for the answer!

In a trial, a small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, an elderly grandmother to the stand.

He approached her and asked; "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?"

She responded, "Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you're a  big disappointment to me..
You lie, cheat on your wife, manipulate  people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a  big shot when you haven't the brains to realize you never will  amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know  you.."

The lawyer was stunned!  Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked,  - "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney (the opponent's lawyer)?"

She again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster. He's lazy, bigoted, and has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone  and his law practice is one of the worst in the state. Not to  mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of  them was your wife. ..Yes I know him."

The defense attorney almost died.

The judge asked both lawyers to approach the bench and in a quiet  voice said:

"If either of you rascals asks her if she knows me,  I'll send you to jail for contempt of court !
Have a laughing day 

'Babah dan keluarga takkan lupakan Lil sepanjang hayat kami' - Sultan Johor

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar added 6 new photos.

'Babah dan keluarga takkan lupakan Lil sepanjang hayat kami' - Sultan Johor

It has been 12 days since my son, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil, Tunku Laksamana Johor, left us.  My family and I would like to express our gratitude to everyone for offering their prayers and their messages of condolence for Almarhum.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and Menjunjung kasih to Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan dan Yang di-Pertuan Negeri Pahang Darul Makmur, Sultan Ahmad Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar, who was there throughout Almarhum's funeral.

I would also like to express my gratitude to my other brother Rulers for their messages of condolences and to their representatives. Thank you to the executive council members, ministers, foreign dignitaries, relatives, friends, Bangsa Johor, and all Malaysians, who came to pay their last respects to Almarhum.

It has been a very difficult time for us, his family, to cope even as we treasure all the wonderful memories we have of him. The love everyone has shown towards Almarhum has been overwhelming and has helped soothe our grieving hearts.
As a father, the pain of losing a son is unbearable. No parent should bury their child but, Allah, The Most Wise, knows best.
Almarhum was humble, kind and caring, and I am very proud of him. Even during his last moments, when he was enduring a lot of pain, his concern was not about himself but about all of us.
His smiles lit up our world and although he left us before we were ready to let go, he will live on in our hearts forever.
I hope that The Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation which he set up to help those with cancer will benefit many Malaysians, young and old, who are battling the disease.
Lil, my son, you are special and unforgettable. Your mother, your brothers and sister, and I, will remember you for the rest of our lives.
Al-Fatihah."- Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan of Johor.

Al-Fatihah."- Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan Johor.

After Seeing THIS, You’ll Never Use Cotton Swabs To Clean Your Ears Again

After Seeing THIS, You’ll Never Use Cotton Swabs To Clean Your Ears Again

When it comes to ear hygiene, you could be doing more harm than good with your current cleaning regimen. The ears are an extremely sensitive and delicate area, and as such, you should take precautions and do your research before attempting to clean them yourself. If great care is not taken when cleaning your ears, it could result in impaired hearing, infection, and/or painful long-term damage. What makes this troubling is that so many people are still applying old concepts to their ear-cleaning practices. The Telegraph reports that every year, about 7,000 people in England alone end up in the hospital with injuries sustained by cotton swabs — more than are injured by razor blades.

Cotton swabs are not safe to clean your ears with. Many people are unaware that doctors and healthcare professionals have been trying to stop people from cleaning their ears with cotton swabs for years. The reality is that you should not stick anything in your ear canals. There is a very real danger of damaging your ear drum. More commonly, people will simply push excess wax deeper into the ear canal, leading to blockages and impaired hearing.
Earwax isn’t inherently dirty. It is important to recognize that earwax, or cerumen, is produced naturally by glands in your ears and it is healthy to have a normal amount of wax present in the ear. With its antibacterial properties, the wax serves as part of your body’s defense system, cleaning and lubricating the canals of your ears.
Before you know how to clean your ears, it’s important to know when to clean your ears.

For the most part, ears clean themselves by cycling wax and dirt out towards the ear openings. Some people may never need to clean their ears — genetics will largely determine this. In some people, wax will build up, though. It can become unsightly and uncomfortable and then it becomes important to clean your ears, but safety must be considered. So if you can’t use a cotton swab, then what?

(If you’re concerned with the volume of wax or you ever feel pain or an ache in your ear, you should seek a doctor immediately).
Wax is only produced in the outer part of your ear canal, away from the eardrum.

So when blockages from wax do occur, it’s generally because the person has been using a cotton swab to “clean” their ear. The deeper you dig, the more likely you are to sustain damage or create a blockage. Cotton swabs aren’t all bad though, you can use them to safely clean around your ear area, just don’t insert them into your ear canal.
To clean the inner recesses of the ear, there are a number of home remedies that are safe and easy to try.

A salt water solution is a simple and effective method to flush buildup from the ear. Simply dab a few drops in, swish, and flush. Use water that’s been warmed to body temperature before trying this.
Oils

A few drops of baby oil, mineral oil, or specifically formulated ear-cleansing oil are also safe and effective to use for cleaning inside your ear passages. Be sure to check the ingredients to make sure you’re not allergic to any of them. Test a dab on your wrist and allow to sit for an hour before trying them in your ears if you’re unsure.
Detergents

Using hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide may also be effective at cleaning wax out of the ear canals. If these rinse methods aren’t enough for you and you are still suffering wax buildup, there are additional measures that can be taken.
Irrigation or syringing.

You can have a doctor perform an irrigation of your ear passages or even get a home irrigation kit and perform it carefully yourself. A saline solution is the most common and effective rinse for this method.
See a doctor.

If the home remedies suggested have not been working for you and you are still suffering from wax buildup or discomfort, you should see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat doctor). They can prescribe drops or perform wax extraction using the proper tools.
Are ear candles safe?

NO! The FDA has launched an assault against ear candling because the process is dangerous and there is no evidence that it is even effective. Common injuries include burns, ear obstructions (due to wax from the candle entering the ear), and ear perforations. Simply do not try this stupid gimmick.

Zarith Sofiah Idris : A letter to my son, Jalil

Zarith Sofiah Idris

A letter to my son, Jalil :

My darling Lil,

I know the only reason you wanted to be in hospital was because you were in great pain but that you really wanted to be home : you've been in too many hospitals too many times. But Allah, in His Infinite wisdom, placed you there so that we, your family, would spend as much time as we could with you.

I have a thousand and one memories of you during your last days in this world.
I remember, once, you closed your eyes and tears flowed onto your cheeks, as you fought the pain, and I held your left hand and I wept, trying hard not to make any sounds. I thought you could not see me cry because your eyes were closed but you knew, and you put your right hand over mine and you patted it, as if you were saying, "Don't cry, I am all right."

I remember all the text messages you sent me. When I wrote that I was praying for you, you wrote back that you had prayed too, but that you had asked Allah to let you bear the burden of my worries.

When I looked at your grave, my heart ached with pain. I watched your father and your brothers fill it up with earth while Boo and Inah stood near me. I looked at your brothers and counted three sons. Boo was beside me. There are five of you. Where was my fifth son? And then I realised it was you who was missing. I had forgotten you were beneath the mounds of earth.

And I held up my hands and whispered "From You we come, and to You we return. I return to You, O Allah, my son."

May you be with the righteous, my son.

Warkah buat anakku, Jalil :

Namun Allah S.W.T., Yang Maha Mengetahui, menempatkan Lil disana agar kami, keluarga Lil, dapat meluangkan sebanyak masa bersama Lil.

Bila mama melihat makam Lil, hati mama dipenuhi keperitan. Mama masih terbayangkan detik ketika Babah, abang dan adik Lil memenuhkan kubur dengan tanah sementara Boo dan Inah berdiri disisi Mama. Mama memandang kearah abang dan adik Lil, dan membilang hanya tiga anak lelaki. Boo disisi mama. Anak lelaki Mama lima orang.

Daku memulangkan kepadaMu, Ya Allah, anakku."

Moga Lil ditempatkan bersama mereka yang soleh.
